Tina tells Jenn she should never settle and “trade upâ€. I mean that’s what Tina’s doing right now at 37 and being single is so much fun because you have more room in your closet for shoes. She even knows a couple of guys in the office Jenn can date. A weird thing also happens, every now and then Jenn gets mean anonymous e mails telling her she’s fat, ugly or calling her slut. The e mails always seem to pray on her deepest insecurities and some how claim to be from an ex of one of the many guys she’s dated. Tina suggest it’s probably one of Jenn’s other friends being childish or a guy she might have recently stopped seeing.
Jenn leaves the company but this type of “friendship†is formed with other women at the next company or she stays in touch with Tina still. Soon Jenn is over 32 and still “dating aroundâ€. Slowly but surely it seems that she’s getting less attention from men. Most of her other friends have gotten married and some even have a kid or two. Her large group of single friends has shrunk and there’s really no one to run around on the town with. Oh look, there’s that new girl Shannon that all the guys in the break room were talking about. She looks like she’d be a fun girl to have a drink or two with.
Even though the following situation happens in the office, I’ve also seen it happen outside the office when circle of girlfriends meet and mix. For some reason there seems to be a type of girl who finds joy in ruining other girl’s lives while pretending to be friends with them. It’s almost as diabolical as that mom that created a myspace account to fuck with some teenage girl and eventually the girl killed her self.
